Watching the QF game of the womens‘ singles at Beijing Olympics made me a little proud of my very own Mei Choo (or MC Wong as the way the organizers published her name on the scoreboard). Even when she made a few (costly) errors on the by-line, she bounced fantastically well in the second set.

So the Olympics kicked off well. Typical of Chinese robotic mechanisms, many party-like mood has been quashed with an all too familiar efficiency. Welcome to the Beijing Olympics! President Bush chose a rather peculiar moment to criticize China’s human rights on the eve of the opening. 19 Chinese cops died in a brutal attack north of the country.
